1) Gas or No Gas ? Fill the gas tank to the top! This prevents moisture from collecting on the fuel pick-up tube and sending unit body. Gas stabilizer is optional. 2) Battery or No Battery ? Remove the battery. If there is any parasite power draw, you will return to a big black frozen ice cube, that taste absolutely terrible in cold drinks. If your car is Tele-touch you may want to leave the transmission in neutral... See number 3. If you think this is crazy, please at least disconnect the positive cable when parked for any length of time. Mice and other assorted rodents love to remove the insulation from wires. If, however, your Edsel is somewhere where there are people about, you may want to consider. If your garage was on fire, God forbid, you would hate to watch your car burn, knowing it could not be pushed to safety. (See Tele-touch in number 2) 4) Start Occasionally or Not ? Let a sleeping dog lie. If your engine was nice and toasty warm when you tucked her in for a nap, every thing should be nice and dry come Spring. More damage is done to an engine during the first few minutes after start up, than any other time. Hey, you wouldn't want us to be waking you every hour through the night.... |
